[SINGAPORE] A bearish stock market, global economic and financial uncertainties and rising inflation have weighed down the golf club membership market, with asking prices down some 7 per cent year-on-year.
But membership brokers expect any further downside to be limited amid rising incomes and the aspiration nature of a club membership.
"But the volume of transaction has slowed down significantly in the last few months," said Lee Langdale of SingGolf.
There is also a widening spread between how much buyers are willing to pay and the asking price of sellers, suggesting that many potential buyers are adopting a wait-and-see attitude.
