On Thursday afternoon, Martin Smith addressed the crowd. He asked them questions, such as the key question, ?How many of you are using social media, like Facebook?? Several hands raised.
Martin followed that with asking, ?How many of you are making money with Facebook?? Nobody?s hand was raised.
Martin realizes this is a problem. He explains, ?Many people think they need to be using all of these different social media platforms simply because they see their competitors have accounts on them.? Many people make this mistake.
Martin expands, ?If you don?t know your goals?what you want to accomplish from using social media, it can be a real time sink, something that takes a lot of time without returning much on that investment. You really need to identify your goals.?
According to the A-Side Worldwide expert marketing strategy consultant, identifying your goals is not the only important step in the process. He also suggests, ?You need to select your target market, even if there are many people or companies that can use what you are offering.?
Martin Smith gave some questions to help people select their target market. A couple of the questions surrounded customers and happiness. One question was, ?Which customers make you happiest?? Another question was, ?Which customers are happiest with you??
He really caught the audience when he introduced the abbreviation, OPC. He told the crowd that meant Other People?s Customers (OPC). While many people in the audience laughed at that, he explained that other companies might sell something that is different but complements what you sell. In other words, many of the same people who might buy that other product or service might also want what a different business is offering.
Martin Smith showed an example of how he put that advice to help a customer make 50% more profit. He used a few Facebook Ads that targeted certain types of potential buyers. Those ads led them to a Facebook Tab Application built by A-Side Worldwide that offered services that would likely interest them, including an offer for something free.
Martin explained, ?Since the Facebook Ads only attracted the types of people who would likely buy what we were selling, we did not have to worry about attracting too many other people that simply want something free, even if they would never buy what my client was offering.? Essentially, he created a market filter that led them to an irresistible offer.
The talk lasted about half an hour, but it was information packed. Evidently, a Detroit disc jockey can provide great marketing tips that help businesses make money.
